OOO Wind Power and Vestas Central Europe (Vestas Wind Systems A/S) signed a contract on supply, installation and maintenance of 35 wind turbines for the second phase of construction of the Botievskaya wind power plant with a combined capacity of 105 MW.

The wind turbines Vestas V112-3.0 MW will be used for the second phase of construction of Ukraine’s largest wind power plant. The similar turbines are already installed at the plant – the first phase was put into operation in autumn 2012.

Outsized freight for the wind power plant which arrived at the Port of Mariupol was transported by Holleman. Distance from the port to the construction site was covered by combination trailers in more than 72 hours. The longest piece of cargo measured 55 meters.

New wind turbines are expected to be delivered by the end of the third quarter this year. Start-up of the second phase turbines is planned to be finished not later than in the middle of 2014. When constructed, Botievskaya WPP will provide “green” power to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian citizens.

As you may recall, the first phase of Botievskaya WPP is among the TOP-20 of the largest wind power plants in Central and Eastern Europe. Construction of the plant started in July 2011, and by the end of 2012 all 30 first phase turbines were installed. Construction of the Botievskaya WPP is a pilot project of DTEK company in the field of alternative energy. Investments will amount to more than EUR 350 million. Total cost of the wind farm is evaluated at 900 million, and the company assures that given the current “green tariff”, the WPP payback period will be 6-7 years. The Botievskaya WPP capacity will make half of Kievskaya HPP and almost 1/6 of DneproGES capacities.

Currently, OOO Wind Power is proceeding with building of two other power plants of DTEK Priazovsky wind farm: Berdyanskaya WPP and Primorskaya WPP. Under construction are power take-off facilities. It is expected that construction of three DTEK Priazovsky sites will be completed by the end of 2016.
