The angle of inclination of the cable with respect to the axis of the winch reel is called the fleet angle: this is the angle between the direction of the cable when leaving the reel and the plane perpendicular to the axis of the reel.

General safety advice: winch spool guide

The fleet angle compensator will regularly serve you if you follow the instructions. Therefore, read it carefully before installing and using this winch directly.

Follow these general safety guidelines:

  • do not use unsuitable blocks or attachments
  • do not use cables that are unfit for the use, with structural defects, strength defects or other defects
  • immediately before use, check the softness of the winch without load
  • make sure that the cable is evenly coiled on the first row of cable on the reel. Otherwise, rewind it.

Important details:

  1. The winch is designed for a short-time operation.
  2. The winch is not designed to lift or otherwise move personnel.
  3. In order for the winch to withstand the required load, at least five (5) turns of the cable must be coiled onto the reel.
  4. In order to correctly choose a winch, you need to consider the size and weight of your vehicle. You should choose so that the maximum permissible load of the winch is 1/1.5 of the total weight of your machine.
  5. Estimated pulling power on the cable should be sufficient to overcome an additional resistance from the obstacle.

Safety precautions

  • Please read these instructions carefully before installing the winch.
  • Do not use unsuitable cables with structural defects, strength defects or other defects.
  • Do not use hooks and cable blocks that are not suitable for use.
  • In some cases, the operator of the winch must have special training in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Do not use the winch as a lifting device for vertical lifting.
  • Do not use a winch to move people.
  • Do not exceed the maximum tract force values specified in the tables. Shock loading should not exceed these values.
  • Keep hands away from the wire rope and from the opening of the guide roller.
  • To pull the load or the machine, the pull-out angle must be less than 15°
  • When handling wire rope, wear leather gloves or use a dense rag.

Replacement of cable

Do not use a cable of a different size or made of another material and use only genuine replaceable parts.

If the winch is used for heavy-duty operation or for pulling out excessive loads, it may be necessary to replace the cable frequently.

  1. Disengage the freewheel.
  2. Wind the entire wire rope, and then remove it from the reel.
  3. Thread the replacement wire rope through the opening of the guide roller, pass it under the reel, and insert it into the hole in the center of the reel.
  4. Tighten the bolt down to secure the wire rope.
  5. Install the hook on the cable by using a pin and a cotter pin.

All moving parts of the winch are permanently lubricated during assembly. Under normal conditions, the factory grease is sufficient. If necessary, re-lubricate after repair or disassembly, use marine type grease.

Precautionary measures

  1. Check all safety and environmental conditions before and during use.
  2. The cable should be replaced if there are signs of excessive wear, damage to the cable, corrosion or any other defects.
  3. The operator of the winch must be near the winch during its operation.
  4. The duration of turning on the winch is short-term.
  5. If the winch refuses to pull the load under normal conditions, stop working for 30 seconds, otherwise, the engine may be damaged.
  6. Ensure that the winch is connected to the correct voltage. Only 12 or 24 volts DC are allowed.
  7. Check that the clutch lever is in the “Clutch” position during use and after it.
  8. Remove the control panel from the winch when it is not in use.
  9. Do not wind the cable around the load and do not hook a lasso around it. Always use the slings to ensure that the rope does not wear out and does not twist.
  10. Keep hands and clothing away from the winch, cable, and guide roller.
  11. Do not pull out the control panel plug when pulling the load.
  12. Before use, read all the principles of the winch operation (winch speed and direction).
  13. To ensure sufficient power when pulling the load, the car engine must be switched on neutral gear.
  14. Always keep the cord of the control panel away from the winch cable.

If there is any unusual noise or vibration during operation, stop the winch immediately and return it for repair.

Free travel (free-slip clutch)

The coupling makes it possible to quickly unwind the cable for connection to the load or to the connection points and operates using the clutch lever (free travel).

The clutch lever must be in the “Clutch” position before the winch operation starts.

  1. To disengage the clutch, lift the clutch lever and turn it 90° clockwise to the “Tripping” position; now the cable can be loosened from the reel.
  2. To engage the clutch, lift the clutch lever and turn it 90° counterclockwise to the “Clutch” position.
  3. If the clutch lever cannot be properly locked in the “Clutch” position, rotate the reel to connect the clutch to the gear.
  4. Wear leather gloves and use a safety clamp when unreeling the cable from the reel.

The floating installation of the guide element prevents errors during winding also after any shortening of the rope, since the guide carriage with the guide rope body automatically follows the movement of the unwinding rope in the direction of the reel axis along the width of the winding.

The design of the rope of the device is simple & durable. The technique of the rope of the device is clearly visible to the operators of the reel-type lifting machine. By means of an appropriate adjustment of the guide carriage, especially the angle of inclination from its surface, it is possible to easily adjust the guide element to the different angles of unwinding the rope.
