APM makes more facilities available at Mobile

APM Terminals announced the modernization of the Port of Mobile. The company is planning to expand the number of cranes and the variety of services available to the customers. The Alabama State Port Authority fully agrees and supports such a decision. The cooperation of two organizations started in 2005 when they became partners for the construction of Phase 1 of the container terminal at Choctaw Point. The latest was meant to provide the access to the global network and cover the maximum number of trade routes leading to and from the Port of Mobile. APM was responsible for the operation of the terminals. Since that time, the growth of the Port has continued. During that time, the partners managed to find more cost-effective solutions and make the services more customer-oriented. It is supported by the responses of the clients (shippers and carriers).

APM is said to make a great investment of $40 million in order to improve the infrastructure of 20 acres. APM is planning to increase the Mobile, AL capacity of the container terminal up to 475,000 TEUs. Besides, another $50 million, which is invested by ASPA, will also be added to the modernization. The money will be spent on the construction of the ICTF. The latest is planned to work with the Class 1 railways, such as CSX Transportation, BNSF Railway, CN, and Kansas Southern. The deadline for the construction was scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2016.
