We present to your attention the most powerful crane in the world – the model Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1.

Technical characteristics of Liebherr LTM 11200 speak for themselves:

  • the maximum carrying capacity of 1,200 tons
  • a telescopic boom with a reach of up to 100 meters without extension cables and up to 170 meters with an extension
  • speed of movement reaches 75 km per hour
  • 8-cylinder engine chassis, equipped with a turbocharger with a capacity of 500 kW.

All these were embodied in a unique self-propelled mobile crane Liebherr 11200, which in 2007 was recognized as the best development in the field of heavy-duty mobile truck cranes. Although Liebherr is also preparing to release a new, more sophisticated giant, the LTM 11200-9.1 series crane is still out of the competition. Most cranes from a similar weight category are a caterpillar or crane jib cranes. However, unlike Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1, they can be transported to the desired destination only in disassembled form. A powerful German truck crane allows you to reach a speed of 75 km/h a powerful 9-axle chassis and an engine of 680 horsepower.

German manufacturer has embodied all modern engineering developments and the best constructive solutions in this model. A unique telescopic boom is capable of lifting a weight of one hundred tons to a height of up to 80 meters. The boom sections are extended in automatic mode, as well as their fixation in the required position is also automated. Additional lattice extenders allow increasing the height of the lift by about 2 times. Therefore, this type of equipment is ideal for performing work of any complexity and at any height.

Basic equipment and modifications

Although the basic equipment of the truck crane means rising up to 400 tons of cargo, the indicator of 1,200 tonnes is allowed with additional equipment. The chassis is equipped with active rear axle steering, which was specially developed for this series of truck cranes by Liebherr. The control is directly dependent on the speed reached by the crane, so when the traffic slows down, the rear axles are controlled more actively, and with increased speed, the vehicle is still stable and smooth. The mobile crane is equipped with advanced disc brakes, the power of which exceeds any braking system. This is not surprising: after all, for such a giant as Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1, increased security is important.

Security

Speaking about the safety of work, we must pay attention to the presence of a system, which includes a test system, hydraulic clamps, a limiter of the carrying capacity named Liccon. Control of all working functions of the truck crane is carried out from the cockpit of the crane’s operator and is controlled by the onboard computer. When moving such equipment along the main line, it is necessary to have an appropriate assurance. Otherwise, a 108-ton machine can catch ordinary drivers by surprise. 108 tons is the mass of an auto crane with chassis, supports, two winches, and a turntable. The counterweight weighing 202 tons and arrows are transported separately on a special vehicle. The practicality of Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 truck cranes has been proven many times when working with solid cargoes at high altitudes, both in Europe and in America.
