The increase in cargo volumes

The authorities of the New Orleans Port announced a significant rise in cargo volumes. They informed that they accepted more breakbulk ships than ever. The amount of cargo reached 8.4 million in 2014. Compared to the previous years, the volumes appeared to be the largest since 2000. In comparison with 2013, the figures grew by 28%.

As the authorities say, it was a busy year for the port. It also denotes the growing success of their work. The volumes of breakbulk cargo also rose significantly. Compared to 2013, the figures increased by 52% totaling almost 3.8 tonnes.

As the CEO of the New Orleans Port claims, the figures will continue to grow because of new shippers and the thrift of the chemical industry.

They also accept passenger ships. The average amount of cargo reaches about 90 million tonnes yearly. Together with the South Louisiana Port, they present one of the world largest port systems for both cargo tonnage and annual amounts of cargo.
